Abstract

The article aims to find the echo of Spanish constitutional jurisprudence in the jurisprudence of the Chilean Constitutional Court. The 1977 Spanish constitution is a reference for political charters adopted subsequently. This influence has not been restricted to the drafting of legal norms, but includes the Spanish Constitutional Court's interpretation of constitutional provisions. This paper analyses this influence on the Chilean Constitutional Court through study of Chilean rulings that cite decisions of the Spanish Constitutional Court. It is argued that, given the historical ties the two countries share, the influence of Spanish constitutional jurisprudence in Chile on issues relating to administrative law and public administration should not be surprising.
